I just whipped this one up yesterday and wanted to share it with my G-glo Community. Does anyone remember the frozen SUNSHINE burgers from the health food store? They were the healthiest of all the frozen burger options with only a few ingredients such as organic brown rice, sunflower seeds, carrots, onions and salt; But since I went raw and got off all mostly all grains, I haven’t been able to eat them anymore. So now I have a new and improved burger that is actually 100 % RAW, Grain free and even more delicious. All you need is a food processor and either a dehydrator or an oven set at a very low temp of 100 degrees.
Ingredients:
1 cup raw organic sunflower seeds
1/2 cup raw organic sesame seeds
1 cup organic sun dried tomatoes ( soaked for 1 hour)
1/2 cup chopped scallions
1.5 cups of diced organic carrots
1/2 cup diced organic celery
pinch of cumin
dash of organic nama shoyu (adds depth and flavor)
Pinch of pink sea salt
Procedure:
Place all items in your food processor and pulse several times. Use a spatula to scrape down sides and add a little filtered water if necessary to get it mixed well and sticking in your hand.
Make palm size burgers and place on a flat sheet or pan and dehydrate at 105 degrees for about 3 hours.
If you don’t have a dehydrator than turn oven on to 110 degrees until heated up and then turn back down to 100-105 degrees and bake burger until golden brown.
You can make a raw tahini sauce with raw tahini, lemon juice and sea salt and drizzle on top of your burger tooo!
Serve in a lettuce leaf shell, on flax bread or on a fresh raw salad and you wouldn’t believe how tasty it is.
The burgers can stay fresh in refrigerator up to 5 days in an airtight container.
By adding different spice to this basic recipe- you can make an Indian burger, Mexican burger or Greek flavored burger. Use your imagination!
