I had the hugest blessing this past weekend to spend Three glorious days with RAW FOOD legend Mimi Kirk, Voted Sexiest Vegan over 50 by PETA and the most world renowned RAW FOODS Health & Longevity expert.
She gave an inspirational and SOLD OUT talk on the many benefits of the RAW lifestyle at G-ZEN on July 21, 2014. While enjoying private time with her at my home, we would get up in the am and be excited to exchange raw food recipes and tips with one another.
She asked if I drank coffee, which I sighed and said that I had quit coffee years ago. She made a “coffee substitute” suggestion that really interested me & got me excited at the sound of it. She said, “try this Mate Latte and you will feel excited to get up in the am and have your old ritual back of a hot, steamy and healthy alternative when you wake up in the am.”
It was only three ingredients and sounded to delish to pass up. So this ones for you Ms. Mimi
Matte latte:
8 oz of yerba mate brewed as per directions in a french press ( as pictured and HOT)
4 Tablespoons Organic Hemp Seeds
2-3 Tablespoons Organic raw honey, maple syrup or natural sweetener
Place the above ingredients in a high speed blender and watch it froth and foam.
Pour into a mug and add cinnamon if you like.
Absolutely the easiest and the most simple coffee alternative you could ever imagine. Although Mate does have some caffeine, it does not give you the jitters or have the same negative effects of coffee, nor is it acidic like coffee. Try this and please post below your experience!

Totally a different experience than coffee, but very yummy!! And the description is perfect – I definitely got a little “pick-me-up” from it, but not the jittery one like coffee gives me. It made me feel happy!
Add some cacao powder, coconut butter and some lucama for a Choco Mate Latte!!
