As many of my fans and customers may know, I am away at my Caribbean home and retreat in Culebra PR from a few months resting & recharging! But as always being closer to the equator, in the sunshine and feeling so ALIVE, I am always inspired. I wanted to share the ridiculously easy recipe that was created literally because it was all the ingredients I had access to the first day I arrived. Even though it’s so simple, I found it to be one the best bread consistencies I have ever created. I am sure the Caribbean Air & Water from the Rainforest added to my success, but I wanted to share it with you so you can try it at home where ever you may live.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups organic golden flax meal
1/2 cup organic sunflower seeds whole
2 cups filtered water
Dried Garlic- 1/2 teaspoon
Dried Rosemary-1/2 teaspoon
Dried Fennel-1/2 teaspoon
Dried Garlic-1/2 teaspoon
Dried Basil-1/2 teaspoon
Pink Sea Salt to taste
Mesquite powder 1 teaspoon
and literally any other dried herb you want to add!
THATS it, I mean how simple is this?
Procedure:
In a large mixing bowl, mix the flax meal and warm water and mix well until well combined and using hands to mix in your love and intentions ( And yes it adds to the flavor).
Add the whole sunflower seeds, all the desired herbs and mesquite power and mix really well.
Once the dough is mixed form into a bread loaf and take a warm damp cotton towel ( very important) and place on top of the loaf and put aside to let the flax meal dough set.
After 1/2 hour remove damp cloth and add dried or fresh rosemary on top .
Using dehydrator sheets, you can decide to either leave the dough in a whole loaf or press down and make thin bread. Obviously the thicker the bread, the longer dehydration time. Put in dehydrator at 115 degrees and depending on what climate you live and what texture you like, dehydrate anywhere between 4-8 hours!. Down in the Caribbean 4 hours seems perfect but back in CT, It would be much longer.
Please try this at home and share with me your experience. I hope you enjoy this simple but delicious raw bread!
Big Love xx AMI
